Greetings NMATA Members and Friends,

Recently the New Mexico Art Therapy Association has recognized the tremendous need for activism and advocacy in New Mexico for social justice issues, such as; immigration, poverty, and civil rights.

In response, we have created a Social Justice Committee designed to provide support and hope for New Mexicans facing some of these critical situations. As the political climate continues to bombard us with new challenges in the realm of mental health, it is our intent to provide information as well as services needed to our communities.

We welcome members as well as friends to join us in promoting awareness, healthy dialogue and non-violent action through art therapy.

This year NMATA has approved several initiatives that are affecting New Mexicans.

NMATA is currently gathering information on how we can be active in giving support to organizations already providing services to immigrant families in New Mexico.

There are many more ways for us to become a driving force of equality, reducing stigmas and creating safe havens that are inclusive to everyone.

If you have any questions or would like to be involved, please contact Alanna Burke-Sindlinger at lannairisgreen@gmail.com or Christina Calderon at christina_calderon_m@yahoo.com
